The Site and Development Context
The site area comprises Melton Hall, its Parks and Gardens and the wider estate. Melton Hall is a Grade II Listed former country house dating back to the 18th Century, with Parks and Gardens boasting substantial woodland, tree planting and landscaping.

The site includes ancillary modern buildings all of which were formally used as a campus by Doncaster College. A more modern golf course has also been developed within the site yet is now unused. The modern buildings and introduction of the golf course have adversely impacted on the openness of the site and the Parks and Gardens. Prior to Newsholme Developments’ purchase of the site, Melton Hall, the Parks and Gardens and wider estate were left to deteriorate, allowing the spread of vegetation and opportunistic vandals to inflict damage on the buildings.
Newsholme Developments has undertaken significant investment at the site and has committed significant sums to emergency preservation and restoration works to Melton Hall. These works have taken place over the last year and they have resulted in successful repairs to start to preserve the site’s heritage and ensure a long lasting legacy. The City of Doncaster Council has recognised the quality of work which has been undertaken to avoid further damage to Melton Hall.
